Russia takes many children from Ukraine. This happens since the year 2014. Experts count almost 20.500 children. The EU ministers fight against this now. They decide on new sanctions on Monday.
The penalties hit 16 persons and 7 groups. These people steal the children. The children live in Russian camps. They learn new things there. This is called umerziehen.
The EU blocks the money of these people. They cannot travel to the EU anymore. This puts pressure on Russia. Only 2.100 children return home. Many children have a Russian Staats-Bürgerschaft now.
There are talks about peace in Brüssel. Beate Meinl-Reisinger wants an own EU team. The EU wants to sit at the table. Putin suggests Gerhard Schröder as a helper. The EU rejects this idea.
