Rescue teams had 2 jobs in the Alps. Both families come from Germany. A father and 2 sons needed help on Monday. They walked in the An-Kogel-Gruppe in Kärnten.
The group was on a glacier. A glacier is a field of old ice. The hikers had bad gear. They wore simple shoes with chains. They could not walk on the steep ice.
There was no phone signal. Other climbers used a Satelliten-Telefon to call help. A police helicopter flew the 3 men out. They are safe.
Rescue workers had another job at the Krippenstein in Ober-Österreich. A family with 3 kids walked there. The kids are 3, 6 and 8 years old. The family lost the right way.
The weather changed fast. Rain and wind started. The walk took over 7 hours. The family had no strength left. The 2 small girls were cold.
The parents called a hut owner. He got help. 2 rescue helicopters flew the family down. No person was hurt.
