In the high mountains there is a big disaster. A giant wave of water and mud destroys many places. The flood starts because a glacier breaks. Experts say: The climate change makes the ice weak. The ice falls into a river and becomes a flood wave. This wave is 100 kilometers long.
The number of dead people grows all the time. In Nepal and Tibet almost 600 people die. More than 2,000 people are still missing. Among the missing people are also 8 persons from Germany. Many of them are pilgrims on the way to the holy mountain Kailash. Many workers from power plants are also still missing.
The rescue is very hard. Much mud covers the land. Many roads and bridges are broken. The helpers have fear of new floods. A new lake from melt water can flow out. Therefore the helpers must stop the work for a short time. China controls the news from Tibet very strict. Therefore people know little about the damage there.
