In Austria, fewer people leave the Catholic Church. In 2025, almost 67,000 people leave. This is less than in past years. The total number of members still goes down. Now, Austria has 4.56 million Catholics.
In Styria, members decrease by 1.7 percent. But many people join again. The diocese gets 128 million euros. Most money comes from the church tax. The church uses the money to help people.
In Tyrol, fewer people leave too. Bishop Hermann Glettler says: The church is more than numbers. In Innsbruck, about 9 percent visit the mass. In Burgenland, 18,000 people visit. Many people use the internet to join again.
Baptisms and weddings decrease a little bit. There are more funerals than baptisms. The church stays important for many people. It helps in hard times and at nice feasts.
