Germany has more company bankruptcies again. This is also called insolvency. In the first half of 2026, there are 12.812 cases. That is nearly 7 percent more than before. Such numbers only existed 13 years ago. Every 19 minutes a company fails.
Transport has hard times. Food and construction also have big problems. One reason is high energy cost. Prices rise because of war in Iran. But company debts are lower now. Mainly small firms fail.
There is also good news. The economy grows a bit again. Experts hope for better times. August brings fewer cases. But many people lose work. Large firms put 16.000 jobs at risk. Experts warn against too much hope.
