In Nepal was a big flood. More than 1000 people are dead. Almost 4000 people are still missing. A glacier break caused mud and rocks. Now the government wants to build a new early warning system.
The system stands at the border with China. It uses cameras and special sensors. These sensors measure movements in the earth. A connection to satellites is also planned. That is important for safety.
Last week the phone network failed during the flood. Without the network stations could not send data. The new system sends data via satellites. Thus warnings always arrive safely. The authorities then send a text message to the people.
The system gives people only little time. But these minutes can save lives. At the last flood the warning came much too late. Nepal also wants to share more data with China. It is about info on glaciers and water levels.
