Schools in Austria look for new teachers. There are 6,500 open jobs for next year. Almost 13,000 people apply for these jobs. This is 1,000 more than last year.
Some people are Quer-Einsteiger. These are people without a Lehramts-Studium. They worked in a different job before. Christoph Wiederkehr is happy about this. He says: The job is popular again.
But there is a problem with the jobs. Some subjects have too many teachers. Other subjects have too few teachers. Sonderschulen often need more teachers too.
Wien needs the most new teachers. There are 2,100 open jobs there. Then come Nieder-Österreich and Ober-Österreich. Each has 900 open jobs. Especially primary schools look for new staff.
