Iran and Oman want a new plan for the Strait of Hormuz. This is an important water way for ships. Many ships with oil and gas drive there. Now both countries agree on a new way for ships.
Ships must drive on one fixed route. Iran wants much money for this. It is 5 to 7 percent of the value of the load. Oman wants about 3 percent as a Gebühr. The USA say no to all Gebühren.
Big ship groups have fear. They write a letter to the Vereinten Nationen. They say: Fees break the law. Everything gets more expensive. That hurts all people in the world.
