Six countries in Europe are not happy. It is about money for the EU. The EU group wants to spend much more money from the year 2028. They want to plan the money for 7 years. The costs shall grow by 60 percent.
The countries Germany and Austria say no. Also Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands and Denmark are against it. They write a letter. There they demand big savings. The EU shall plan many billions of euro less.
These 6 countries are net payers. This means: They pay more money to the EU than they get back. They find the new plan not real. Many countries have high debts themselves. They must save money in their own countries.
The countries also criticize new jobs for staff. The EU wants to hire 2500 new workers. The leaders find this wrong. They cut staff in their own countries. In October is a meeting of the leaders.
There they want to talk about the money. An agreement must come until the end of the year. All countries must agree to the plan. If not, there is a stop. This would make the work of the EU hard.
