The group OECD makes a new study. The study name is 'Education at a Glance'. The study shows: In Austria, 9 out of 100 new teachers stop fast. This happens mostly in the first 5 years. Many find the work too hard. They want more help at the start of the job.
Overall, Austria has less teacher shortage than before. This happens also because of new workers. These are people with another job before. They have no normal teacher training. In Austria, 81 percent of teachers like their work. But the pay is lower than in other jobs with study.
In Germany, the situation is harder. Almost every fifth teacher has no full training. This means: They finish the training not yet. Often classes fall out because teachers are sick. Over half of students in Germany feel this at learning. German teachers work 42 hours per week on average. This is more than in other lands.
