Many jobs in the German car industry disappear. The association VDA published new numbers. By the year 2035, 225,000 people lose their jobs. This is more than experts thought before. 100,000 jobs are already gone now.
Especially supplier companies have big problems. Electric cars need fewer parts than fuel cars. Therefore, companies need fewer workers. Many new jobs move to other countries. Taxes and energy costs in Germany are very high.
The strict bureaucracy also burdens the companies. VDA president Hildegard Müller wants help from the government. The EU should allow open technology. This means: Other engines should stay legal too. Then 50,000 jobs in Germany can be saved. Also, competition from China puts pressure on the industry.
