There are 10 cases of the sickness now. 8 cases are sure in the laboratory. 3 people died from the virus. One dead woman is from Germany. A couple from the Netherlands also died.
The virus is called Andes-Virus. Usually rodents like mice spread the sickness. This happens through dust with animal poo. Humans can catch this virus from humans. But they need very close contact.
A man from the Netherlands was the first sick person. He watched birds in South America before the trip. He had contact with rodents there. Then he went on the ship. He made other people sick there.
The ship had 150 people on board. It stopped at the island Tenerife. All passengers are at home now. They must stay in quarantine. That means: They must not meet other people.
